Teeth Whitening Veneers

Teeth WhiteningIf you have imperfect or discolored teeth that make you feel self-conscious and embarrassed to smile, then dental veneers might just be the answer for you.

Veneers are custom made to fit your teeth and desired look by your cosmetic dentist, they provide a thin covering which is permanently bonded to your teeth. Besides whitening your teeth, veneers also improve the general look and hide any flaws on the surface of the teeth such as chips or acid erosion. Dental veneers can also hide any small misalignments in your teeth and because veneers are wafer thing they will not noticeably add any size to your teeth.

The bonding of the teeth whitening veneers is quite a simple process. First your dentist will actually remove a small amount of the outer layer of your teeth, this aids the bonding process and helps keep the attachment between each tooth and its veneer strong. The veneers are then bonded onto the teeth using a very strong adhesive product. When this process is done correctly it is extremely unlikely that you will ever have a problem with a veneer detaching from teeth.

Teeth whitening veneers usually take two visits for the procedure to be completed. In the first visit the dentist will form the veneers, and then in the second visit your dentist will actually bond them to your teeth. When you leave your dentist after the second you will have a perfectly straight, white set of teeth.

The advantage of teeth whitening veneers over other methods of teeth whitening is that the results are very quick and they can last a lifetime if you look after them properly. This means avoiding food and drink that stains, brushing regularly with whitening toothpaste, flossing daily and regularly seeing your dentists for check-ups and cleanings.

If you are considering veneers to either whiten your teeth or correct any imperfections then you should first talk to your (cosmetic) dentist. Explain what you’re hoping to achieve by have veneers and they should be able to recommend the best course of action for you and book an appointment for the near future.
